Our History
As Japan’s environmental destruction has grown more serious, people from different disciplines have joined together and been working hard to address the associated problems. Environmental destruction is trans-disciplinary in its nature and contains many issues which cannot be dealt with properly by a traditional single-purpose academic institution.
In order to address these critical and fundamental shortcomings, we established the General Society on the Environmental Science in 1975 which, following its achievements, further led to the formation of the Japan Association on the Environmental Studies in 1983.
The Association does not wish to create an exclusive body of academics and professionals, and will provide opportunities for presentations and exchanges for people and organizations who are involved in environmental activities and sustainable society including ordinary citizens, primary, junior and high schools and businesses.
